GAME TYPES AND OTHER INFORMATION

Locating everyone...

Here is the plan for easy location of the server. I will not lie to you, the first time we set this up it will be hard to locate everyone. With the way my luck has been going, I am sure we will incounter many problems. If you want to play, then when I send out the game information e-mail it will contain the following:

  1. Password
  2. Server name
  3. My buddy name again
I can give out my buddy name right now. Any game that I host or anyone will host will be password protected. Thus, people cannot join us, unless they have the password. To add my name to the buddy list first start up unreal 2004. Next, click join game on the main menu. Then, you will see many tabs. Click on the buddies tab. Next, right click in the buddies area. This will give you the option to add a buddy. My name is: crazy_like_a_fox This name will not change from week to week. Regardless of who hosts, the password and server name WILL NOT change from week to week. The idea is, if you add me to your buddy list, you will always see what server I am on, thus can always join me when I am playing regardless of who is hosting.

Testing has begun...

Zac and I have been testing Unreal here and there, and so far things have been going very smoothly. With any luck, Zac may be able to set up a dedicated server, which will make game play much smoother. If not, then either Zac or I, or anyone with roadrunner would host the game. I would like to personally thank Zac for all of his help with this project, as he is making my life much easier, and will make this go much smoother when we do get up and running so, THANKS Zac!!! I haven?t tested the head set yet, but hopefully that will be coming soon, and then I can update everyone about that.

GAME TYPES

Onslaught...

Okay, first Unreal tournament 2004 is a very fast paced game. Actually sometimes to fast for me. But with this game mode, although it is fast paced, much strategy in team play makes this for a very fun game mode. Most maps are huge outside arenas, with vehicles, from tanks, to jeeps, even aircraft. To make this game mode fair, every vehicle can be destroyed, and can be done easily with the correct weapons, thus, if you do not have a vehicle you still stand a chance. The game works like this, you connect the dots from node to node, until you get to the enemies base. Once you connect all the nodes, then the enemies base shields come down, and you can destroy the enemies base. If you destroy the enemies base you win. You only get vehicles with the nodes you own, and if you do not control a node, you cannot get into the enemies vehicle. You have to control the nodes in a connect the dot fashion, thus making battle very easy to find. Which of course is good. Here is an example of good team play. Lets say your home base is getting attacked because the enemy controls all the nodes. You can send all your players to defend the base, or you can split up your forces. If you take control of the next node, then your shields for you base come back up. So, you could have half the team defend the base, while the other half work on destroying that one node which will restore your shields for your base, then slowly working your way from node to node back to the enemies base. As you can see good team work could be an important factor.

Assault...

Assault is another great game. This is where team blue may be attacking, and team red may be defending. Team blue (the attacking team) is given many objectives. This may include blowing up a specific door. Once the first objective is done, then the team goes on to the next objective, which may include lowering a bridge. The defending team (in this case team red), their goal is to stop the blue team (attacking team), from completing their objectives. After the team completes the objectives, or the time runs out, blue becomes the defensive team, and red then becomes the attacking team. What ever team can complete the objectives the fastest or in case both teams run out of time, the team that completed the most objectives wins. This is a very fun game as well.

Caputre the flag...

Well this game is just like it sounds. Blue team has a flag, and red team has a flag. Basically you capture the other teams flag and bring it back to your base. First team to make the set number of points wins. A simple, but very fun and team oriented game.

Team death match...

This is, again just like it sounds. You have a red team and a blue team. You try to kill anyone not on your team, and hopefully, you don?t accidently shoot anyone on your team. I tend to do that a lot, and if I do that to you, well I am sorry. Anyway the team with the most kills wins.

Bombing run...

This can be a very interesting game. The best analogy I can think of for this game is a high tech soccer game with guns and a bad attitude. The red team has a goal, and the blue team has a goal. The ball starts of in the middle of the ?field?. If you have the ball when you hit the fire button it passes the ball. If you have it aimed at a teammate you can then pass them the ball. Or, if you would like you can shoot the ball at the enemy. The enemy will catch the ball, then you can shoot them with one of your guns. If you have the ball you cannot shoot anyone with a gun. The object is to get the ball into the opposite teams goal. You can pass it into the goal or you can shoot it into the goal. I think running it into the goal is worth more points. So, this can be very team oriented. If you want you can have some people on defense guarding your goal and then have some people on offense, or if you want everyone could be on offense. Passing is very important. Good communication will be a must if you want to win. This could be a very interesting and fun game.

Double domination...

This game is a lot like king of the hill. Again you have two teams. The idea is to hold off not ONE but TWO areas at the same time. The team that gets to both areas first start to have a count down. Sorry I can?t remember the time you have to hold the areas. The team that does not have the area must try to take over the area before the clock runs down. If they do not do that, then the team holding the area gets points. If the team disrupts this then they become in charge of defending the area, and the clock restarts the count down. This can be a very fun game, but I must warn people it is very fast paced. I have a very hard time keeping up.

Death match...

This game is basically everyone for themselves. This can be a fun game to see who is the best of the best. But, if you like team play better then this game may not be as fun for some people. This is also one of those very fast paced game modes. The player with the most frags at the end, wins.
