First, I would like to say welcome to the gaming page! I am hoping that you will get to know this page very well. Here is a quick synopsis of my plans. I thought it would be a fun time if one day out of the week we could get some people together and do some online gaming.
Criteria...
If you are still reading this, then I am assuming you are still interested, which of course is a good thing. Here is where I tell everyone the bad news. These unfortunately are the restrictions that I have to enforce to make sure that the online gaming experience goes smoothly for everyone. First, anyone that does the online gaming with us must have DSL or a faster connection. Unfortunately, because of the strong possibilities of lag with dial up, it can not be allowed. Sorry for anyone that has dial up, I feel your pain! Secondly, I highly recommend head sets. This will make the online gaming very fun, as we can easily communicate with teammates. So, please when you purchase Unreal 2004, please get a head set along with it. I am not sure what is a good brand, but from what I have been told, just do not go VERY cheap.
The game to play and why...
After careful consideration and talking to some people, I think the best game to play is Unreal Tournament 2004. This game allows us to use head set capabilities (great for communicating), very good graphics, great snipering, allows for team work, has many different gaming modes, supports up to many players at a time (hopefully there will be 10-12 of us playing), and is a first person shooter, which means if you cannot make it from one week to the next it is not a big deal as it would be with role playing games. At first I was going to let you guys choose the game, but after talking to many people they all were leaning towards Unreal anyway, so to make my life easier I have just decided that will be the game to play. I hope you are all okay with that and if not, well I am sorry.
When to be up and running...
Well I would like to be up and running by June, however, I know that most of you probably will not know where you will be in June. So realistically, I do not expect to be up and running with Unreal until end of August beginning
of September. If however, we get some people that can be up and running by June, please let me know so we can play (even if it is 2 on 2 or maybe even 1 on 1). I would be more then happy to play some online gaming, and perhaps if there is only 3 or 4 of us playing by June we might be able to play
Starcraft or other online games that we can agree on. But by the end of August I would like to have Unreal up and running. I was thinking that perhaps Monday at 7:30 would be a great time to do some online gaming (that way I can look forward to mondays!!).
E-mailing me...
Okay, if you cannot play because of dial up, are too busy, or simply do not like Unreal, please e-mail me simply stating that you don?t want to play. Thus, when we decide to play and I send out e-mails of the server name, password, and other pertinent information, you will not
keep getting those e-mails. If you are interested, please go to my game type link above. This will give you information on the game modes in Unreal, plus it will give you information about how I am planning on hosting the game so everyone can locate the proper server. Then after you read that link please go to the e-mail check link. This will
give you all the information that I need in your e-mail if you decide that you want to play.
